Hand-crafted knots
Knotty Entanglements is a one-person studio designing cross-stitch knot patterns for stitchers who like a clean and colorful finished project suitable for framing and gift giving. The patterns are drafted by hand and precisely charted with large diagrams and clear instructions.
Inspired by the forms and symmetries of ancient Roman mosiacs, Celtic knots, Islamic, Hindu, & Buddhist geometric patterns, mathematics, and the natural world, Entanglements patterns add a modern touch to ancient designs in a timeless fabric-art medium.
The work
The patterns are designed to be enjoyable to both stitch and view. The knotwork draws the eye and engages the mind, bringing a sense of calm and serenity. The customizable colors match any decor. Each cross-stitch pattern ships as a print-ready PDF with a clean chart, shape & color reference, and floss list.
Each pattern is the result of a long design process: from an initial sketch, to a pixel art draft, to a printed chart, to a final stitched completion mounted and framed on the wall.
The maker
I’m a cross-stich and digital design enthusiast who developed a method for creating these marvelous knotty patterns and decided to bring them to a wider public. I have been stitching these knots for twenty years, and think they are one of the most satisfying and rewarding crafting projects around. I hope you’ll try an Entanglements cross-stitch!
